Job Description
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Electrical Designer III to join our talented team at our office in Burlington, Massachusetts.
In this role, you will assist in designing engineering projects within the business unit. The assignments contain specific tasks on project teams, and these individuals are expected to use their education, experience, and knowledge to resolve the engineering problems and tasks they are assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
Assists Project Lead with design development and documentation.
Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Assists with the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects.
Sets up views/sheets within Revit or AutoCAD for use on a project, utilizing the established naming convention and drawing list prepared by the Project Lead.
Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Lead and fills out equipment schedules.
Creates or modifies drawings based on markups generated by others.
Researches design options and documents findings for the Project Lead.
Keeps the Project Lead informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
Researches code issues and communicates with other disciplines.
Ensures that drawings and designs are per company quality, production, and design standards.
Makes calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design, such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, and equipment sizing.
Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details, and diagrams.
Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
5-8 years of previous design experience in the building design industry (for example: lighting systems, fire alarm systems, branch circuitry, etc.).
Technical or Associate Degree in design from an accredited technical institution or college.
Experience in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit).
Proven time management skills to juggle more than one project at a time.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of system design and applicable codes.

The salary offered for this role is between $113,000 and $150,000, but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.
