KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Controls & System Design

  • Design electrical control systems for custom automation equipment, including assembly, inspection, and testing systems
  • Develop detailed schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD
  • Integrate electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems into cohesive control solutions

Project Execution & Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability
  • Support program timelines by delivering designs that align with project scope, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Collaborate with Program Managers to provide status updates and resolve engineering challenges
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives

Manufacturing & Commissioning Support

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to develop assembly instructions, wiring standards, and quality procedures
  • Provide technical support during machine build, debug, and startup phases
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement design modifications as needed
  • Assist with system validation, testing, and customer acceptance activities

Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and controls
  • Contribute to standardization efforts, design libraries, and engineering documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability in design processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • 1-5 years of experience in electrical design within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment
  • Experience designing systems for custom machinery, assembly lines, or test equipment

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with EPLAN (preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including:
    • PLC I/O and panel design
    • Motor controls, safety circuits, and power distribution
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic control integration
  • Ability to perform electrical load calculations and system sizing
