Electrical Engineer - Industrial Manufacturing - Providence, RI

The Electrical Engineer will design and develop electrical control systems for complex, custom automated equipment while collaborating closely with mechanical and controls engineering teams. This role spans the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through system build, testing, and support during installation.

Description

The Electrical Engineer will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

• Design detailed electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and bills of materials for custom automated processing equipment.
• Partner with mechanical engineers on motor selection, sensors, machine layout, and overall system design.
• Design to NFPA 79, UL 508A and NEC requirements, including machine safety circuits
• Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate the latest automation hardware and networking solutions.
• Support the build, testing, and commissioning phases on the production floor and assist with installation efforts when needed.

Profile

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in designing industrial electrical control systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar electrical design tools.
• Hands‑on experience with PLCs, distributed I/O, and industrial Ethernet networks.
• Familiarity with Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix, safety PLCs, and integrated motion solutions.
• Understanding of SCCR, short‑circuit analysis, and relevant electrical standards.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative technical culture.
