Description
Albacore Inc. is a Philadelphia-based company building highly-capable, mass-producible drone submarines to defend sovereign waters of America and allied nations. We are backed with more than $10 million from Y Combinator and venture capital investors.
Role description:
Design and develop electrical systems for underwater vehicles, supporting architecture development, schematic design, PCB layout, and system integration.
Contribute to the development of power distribution, motor control, sensing, and onboard computing subsystems while ensuring robust electrical integration with mechanical and software components.
Support the full lifecycle of electrical hardware development including design, board bring-up, debugging, and validation.
Design and document wire harnesses, electrical interfaces, and subsystem interconnects supporting integrated vehicle architectures.
Participate in hands-on electrical integration, system bring-up, and troubleshooting during prototype builds and field testing.
Apply a strong first-principles engineering mindset to improve system reliability, performance, and electrical architecture.
Desired qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
1–7 years of experience designing and integrating electronic systems.
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using ECAD tools (Altium preferred).
Hands-on experience with electronic bring-up, debugging, and validation using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and electronic loads.
Experience integrating processors, sensors, power electronics, and communication interfaces.
Familiarity with high-speed digital, analog, or power electronics design.
Experience designing electrical harnesses, interfaces, and system-level electrical architectures.
Strong first-principles engineering mindset and practical design approach.
U.S. work authorization and ability to obtain a security clearance.
