Electrical Engineer – Power Innovation (Commissioning)
Location: Bowling Green, Ohio
Employment Type: Contract (12 Months)
Work Setting: Onsite
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (7 Days On / 7 Days Off)
Shift: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (Occasional Nights & Holidays)

The Electrical Engineer – Power Innovation is responsible for supporting pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, and system turnover of electrical power systems. This role provides engineering expertise throughout project execution, ensuring switchgear, transformers, generators, protection systems, and associated electrical equipment are tested, verified, and ready for safe operation.

Key Responsibilities
Support electrical engineering activities during commissioning, startup, and system turnover.
Lead and support commissioning of switchgear, transformers, generators, protection relays, and associated electrical systems.
Validate short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash studies against as-built conditions.
Execute electrical testing including insulation resistance, hi-pot testing, relay testing, and functional verification.
Support pre-commissioning activities including loop checks, calibration, and protection system verification.
Coordinate and participate in FAT, SAT, PSSR, and RFSU activities.
Collaborate with Project Management, Construction, Controls, Operations, and vendors to ensure system readiness.
Perform field troubleshooting and issue resolution during energization and startup.
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and company safety requirements.
Support BESS and power generation system integration and performance validation.
Develop commissioning documentation including ITRs, test records, redlines, and turnover packages.
Track and resolve punch list items prior to system handover.
Support continuous improvement of commissioning standards and processes.
Mentor junior engineers as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology.
Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, commissioning, or industrial electrical systems.
Working knowledge of electrical power systems including switchgear, transformers, generators, and protection systems.
Experience interpreting electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and control systems.
Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and startup processes.
Experience working in field-based industrial environments.
Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, overtime, nights, and holidays.
Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or actively pursuing.
Experience supporting power generation facilities.
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) experience.
Data Center commissioning experience.
Experience leading commissioning and startup activities.
Experience with FAT/SAT and turnover processes.
Experience using ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, MATLAB, or similar power system analysis tools.
Experience using Omicron, Doble, Megger, or similar electrical testing equipment.
Experience with DCS, SCADA, and electrical system integration.
