Position Summary

The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of electrical design engineers supporting Trident's advanced electronic systems, including space computing, embedded processing, and high‑reliability electronics. This role combines technical leadership with people and project management to ensure successful execution of current programs while building the capabilities needed for future products.

The Electrical Engineering Manager oversees staffing, performance, technical quality, and process adherence within the electrical engineering discipline. The ideal candidate has a strong background in board‑level electrical design (digital, mixed‑signal, and/or power), experience in aerospace or high‑reliability environments, and a demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering complex hardware from concept through production.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical and Project Leadership

• Provide technical leadership for the electrical engineering discipline across multiple projects.
• Oversee and support architecture, design, analysis, and verification of complex electronic hardware, including processor/FPGA-based boards, power electronics, mixed signal interfaces, and supporting circuitry.
• Ensure use of rigorous engineering practices, including requirements definition, design analysis (e.g., WCCA, derating, SI/PI evaluation), design reviews, and thorough documentation.
• Review and approve key technical artifacts such as schematics, PCB layouts, analysis reports, and test procedures.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for hardware issues discovered during integration, environmental testing, and production.

People Management and Development

• Manage a team of electrical engineers, including performance management, goal setting, coaching, and career development.
• Conduct regular one on ones, mid year and annual performance reviews, and provide candid feedback and guidance.
• Identify training, mentoring, and cross training opportunities to strengthen individual capabilities and overall team depth.
• Support succession planning and talent development to ensure continuity of critical skills.
• Foster a collaborative, transparent, and accountable team culture aligned with Trident's values.

Resource Planning and Execution

• Plan and allocate electrical engineering resources across programs to meet scope, schedule, and budget commitments.
• Collaborate with program managers, systems engineers, and other functional leads to develop realistic engineering plans and task estimates.
• Monitor progress against plan; proactively identify and resolve resource, technical, or schedule risks.
• Coordinate priorities across multiple projects, balancing near term demands with long term capability development.

Process, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

• Ensure adherence to Trident's engineering processes, standards, and configuration management practices.
• Lead or participate in design and peer reviews to drive technical quality and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities to improve tools, methods, and workflows within the electrical engineering discipline (e.g., simulation practices, design templates, checklists).
• Promote data driven decision making and continuous improvement based on lessons learned from development and test.

Cross Functional and External Engagement

• Work closely with mechanical, FPGA, software, systems, test, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure integrated, producible hardware solutions.
• Support business development activities by contributing to technical proposals, BOE/ROM estimates, and customer presentations.
• Serve as an electrical engineering subject matter expert in customer and supplier interactions, design reviews, and technical interchange meetings.
• Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing to support design for manufacturability (DFM), design for test (DFT), and transition to production.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• 9+ years of experience in electrical/electronic hardware design and development OR 7+ years with a graduate degree.
• Demonstrated experience leading or owning complex board level designs from concept and architecture through schematic, PCB layout oversight, bring up, and verification.
• Experience with high-speed digital, mixed signal, or power electronics design (e.g., processors, FPGAs, DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, DC/DC conversion, PoL regulation).
• Hands on experience with lab debug and characterization using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and related instrumentation.
• Prior experience providing technical direction or leading small engineering teams or projects.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high reliability electronics domains (e.g., spacecraft, launch vehicles, avionics, missiles, or similar systems).
• Familiarity with radiation tolerant or radiation effects mitigated electronics for space environments.
• Experience with SI/PI analysis tools and methods (e.g., HyperLynx, Sigrity, SIwave).
• Experience with VPX, SpaceVPX, VITA standards, or other modular embedded computing architectures.
• Prior line-management experience (hiring, performance reviews, salary planning).
• Experience with configuration management and PDM/PLM tools.
• Experience supporting customer technical reviews, proposals, and new product introduction.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $113,000 - $211,000

Please Note: Actual compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, business considerations, and geographic location where applicable.
