Electrical Estimator

CT electrical contractor seeks Electrical Estimator for their growing business.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, institutional, and/or residential electrical construction projects throughout Connecticut. The estimator will review plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, obtain subcontractor and vendor pricing, and develop complete bid proposals.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical drawings, specifications, addenda, and project documents.

• Perform detailed electrical material and labor takeoffs.

• Prepare estimates for power distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, communications, low-voltage systems, and other electrical scopes as applicable.

• Solicit and evaluate pricing from electrical suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.

• Prepare competitive bids and proposals.

• Identify project scope, exclusions, assumptions, and potential risks.

• Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks when required.

• Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, engineers, general contractors, and vendors.

• Track bid opportunities and maintain estimating records.

• Assist with value engineering and alternative pricing.

• Review awarded projects during the handoff from estimating to project management.

• Maintain current knowledge of material costs, labor requirements, electrical codes, and construction practices.

• Meet bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical estimating experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical construction.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.

• Knowledge of NEC requirements and Connecticut electrical construction practices.

• Experience with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, Trimble, or similar platforms preferred.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

• Strong mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills.

• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

• Electrical field experience, journeyman/master electrician background, or construction management experience is a plus.
