GavinHeath is partnering with a client in Cedar Rapids, IA looking to add a Electrical Foreman (Commissioning) to their team. The role is a Direct Hire position.
Responsibilities:
Review, validate, and execute AutoLOTO requests for all project electrical systems during Level 3–5 commissioning phases.
Test and Energization Oversight: Lead the field team through FTE, pre-functional and functional test plans, energization sequences, and integrated systems testing protocols in compliance with approved plans and permits.
Lead electrical crews in field commissioning activities including First Time Energization, switching/LDL for AutoLOTO, minor issue resolution, equipment start-up switching, load bank connection and removal, and general support for Level 3–5 commissioning.
Execute approved Methods of Procedure for all Level 3–5 activities and ensure crews follow the exact procedural steps.
Attend and contribute to regular progress meetings and commissioning updates to ensure alignment with the project Cx plan.
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols during all commissioning phases and coordinate with Safety, QA/QC, and Field Operations to identify and mitigate commissioning risks.
Participate in post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and incorporate feedback into updated commissioning standards and field practices.
Maintain accurate, auditable logs of switching activities, AutoLOTO records, MOP signoffs, and commissioning support notes for turnover and compliance.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or vocational training in electrical technology preferred.
Iowa state electrical licensing in good standing
OR reciprocal licensing from AK, AR, CO, MN, MT, NE, NH, ND, OK, SD, TX, WI, or WY.
Certifications: NFPA 70E and relevant safety certifications preferred; AutoLOTO or switching authority credentials a plus.
5+ years of electrical field experience on mission-critical or industrial projects with hands-on switching, LOTO, and commissioning support; proven track record with Level 3–5 activities preferred.
Strong understanding of switchgear operation, transfer schemes, LV and MV switching practices, load bank procedures, and commissioning test support.
Clear, firm communicator with experience directing crews, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and documenting switching activities.
