Position Overview

AST is seeking an Entry-Level Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with basic electrical and mechanical knowledge who wants to develop their skills in an industrial manufacturing environment.

The technician will assist with troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of electrical and mechanical systems used throughout our manufacturing facility. Training will be provided on AST's specific equipment, controls, and maintenance procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in industrial electrical systems, be willing to learn, and have a safety-focused approach to maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

·         Assist experienced technicians with troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical problems, including electrical faults, machine alarms, and control issues.

·         Learn to troubleshoot CNC and VTL equipment, including machines using Okuma, Haas, Fanuc, and Siemens controls.

·         Assist with troubleshooting industrial furnaces and their electrical controls, sensors, and burner systems.

·         Perform established preventative maintenance procedures on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and respond to equipment breakdowns.

·         Use digital and analog multimeters and other electrical test equipment to diagnose basic electrical problems.

·         Assist with electrical wiring and the replacement of sensors, switches, motors, relays, and control components.

·         Assist with the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.

·         Read and interpret basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings with guidance.

·         Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.

·         Maintain a clean and organized work area.

·         Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and electrical safety practices.

·         Work closely with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production personnel to resolve equipment issues.

·         Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

·         High school diploma or GED.

·         Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

·         Ability to use basic hand tools and electrical test equipment.

·         Ability and willingness to learn how to read electrical and mechanical schematics.

·         Basic computer skills.

·         Strong willingness to learn industrial maintenance and troubleshooting.

·         Good communication and problem-solving skills.

·         Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

·         Ability to follow directions and work independently as skills and experience develop.

·         Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment, including standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting materials or equipment.

Preferred

·         Technical school or community college coursework, certificate, or associate degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.

·         Internship, apprenticeship, or previous experience in electrical, mechanical, automotive, HVAC, industrial, or manufacturing maintenance.

·         Basic understanding of AC/DC electrical systems.

·         Basic understanding of motors, relays, switches, sensors, and control circuits.

·         Basic hydraulic or pneumatic experience.
