Electrical Panel Technician

Wunderlich-Malec (WM) is 100% employee-owned and one of the largest and most well-established engineering companies in the United States. We have an Electrical Panel Technician position available in Winslow, ME. This position is a key resource in manufacturing the equipment as supplied with engineered systems and is responsible for electrical protection & control equipment assembly, wiring PLC panels, motor control equipment, protection, control, instrumentation cabinets, panels and plates, as well as modular building electrical wiring.

Primary Purpose:  The position is a key role in Baldwin, FL and is a key resource in manufacturing the equipment as supplied with engineered systems.  This position is responsible for protection & control equipment assembly and wiring involving PLC panels, motor control equipment, protection, control, and instrumentation cabinets, panels, and plates. 

Major Responsibilities

• Assembling, installing and mounting electrical components and wire harnesses in a neat and professional manner
• Assemble electrical equipment per WM standards and engineered drawings
• Proper layout of both front and back panel mounted components
• Ability to visually locate components and determine proper clearances, etc.
• Properly label and document component identification and location
• Assist with preparing assembled equipment for system testing procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized production area on a daily basis
• Reviews BOM (bill of materials) to assess equipment receipt and readiness for project assembly
• Complies with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner
• Works with Manufacturing Manager and Electrical Supervisor to fully understand system assembly requirements and shipment schedules and/or project timelines
• Applying knowledge of electrical principles to read and problem-solve wiring schematics

Minimum Requirements

1. Education – High School Diploma (Associates in Electrical Field and/or related Military experience preferred).
2. Experience – 2+ years of directly related electrical panel assembly and/or electrical wiring experience in the areas described above as well as areas indicated below:
   1. Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
   2. Good employee interpersonal communication skills
   3. Demonstrated skill in working effectively with a team of engineers and engineering support
   4. Familiar with the use of a personal computer (PC) for entering timesheets, expense reports, printing wire labels, etc.
   5. Working knowledge of all necessary safety requirements while working in assembly area
   6. Working knowledge of computer and networking equipment for proper installation and startup. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word 
   7. Strong time management and organization skills. Must be able to work independently and successfully complete multiple assignments in a deadline driven environment

Physical Demands of Position Good visual perception to see small electrical wires and components within the panel boards. Must have full dexterity in hands and fingers to utilize variety of tools and equipment for electrical assembly.  Must have ability to stand and/or kneel for long periods of time.  Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines.  Also, ability to mount and dismount equipment, push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Working Conditions Equipment assembly environment; cement floor with floor padding provided as needed.
