ERP is deploying a project team for the Fort Buchanan installation-level microgrid in Puerto Rico. The work includes diesel generation, medium-voltage distribution, microgrid controls, protective relaying, fuel infrastructure, fiber communications, optional BESS, integration of existing renewable generation, and full system commissioning.

Position Summary

Lead field execution for 13.2-kV distribution, generator step-up transformers, switchgear, protective relaying, grounding, controls interfaces, cabling, and electrical testing. This superintendent is the electrical installation representative to the commissioning team and must manage energization readiness with uncompromising safety and configuration control.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate outages, switching plans, LOTO, arc-flash controls, utility interfaces, test plans, and energization packages.
  • Verify approved drawings/submittals, cable schedules, torque records, test reports, redlines, and equipment documentation before turnover.
  • Lead subcontractor production and short-interval planning; coordinate interfaces with civil, generator, fuel, controls, fiber, fire alarm, and BESS scopes.
  • Participate in preparatory/initial QC meetings, equipment SAT, relay testing, functional performance testing, and integrated microgrid testing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of industrial or utility electrical construction, including 5 years supervising medium-voltage work.
  • Demonstrated experience with switchgear, transformers, protective relays, power/control cable, grounding, testing, and safe energization.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NESC concepts, LOTO, drawings, submittals, and field quality records.
  • Ability to work full-time in Puerto Rico and obtain installation access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical license, master electrician credential, NETA exposure, OSHA 30, USACE CQM, and utility/microgrid commissioning experience.
  • Spanish proficiency.

Field, Travel and Employment Conditions

  • When on site, work may involve tropical heat and humidity, rain, uneven terrain, stairs/ladders, construction noise, required PPE, and extended, weekend, outage, emergency, or alternate-shift hours.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, follow drug-free workplace and conduct requirements, and protect FCI/CUI using only authorized systems and procedures.
  • ERP encourages applications from qualified Native American, Puerto Rican, veteran, military-spouse, disabled, and local candidates. ERP provides equal employment opportunity consistent with applicable law.

Application Materials

  • Resume showing month/year dates, employer, role, project scope/value, client, and personal responsibilities.
