SC - PAY GRADE 9

ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE

DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The incumbent in this class generally performs entry level electrician tasks. Responsible for providing competent assistance to electricians or others as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision from a higher-grade electrician. This position may require weekend and holiday work.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Performs basis tasks in support of Electricians involved in the installation, repair and maintenance of wiring, electrical systems and equipment; assists in the periodic checks on controls and machinery; performs assigned preventive maintenance program tasks for electrical equipment; ability to read blueprints; performs general custodial work to keep area and facilities clean and safe; performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Some knowledge of the rules and standards of electrical construction, installation, tools and terminology of the electrical trade; ability to assist with repairs to electrical equipment using safe practices; ability to perform manual work; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, department heads, representatives from other agencies and the general public; must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED with at least one (1) years' experience in related field; formal Apprentice Electrician training preferred; must enroll or be enrolled in an approved electrician apprenticeship program and work toward a Journeyperson certificate within one (1) year of hire to retain position; excellent verbal and written communication skills; solid customer service and organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

SC - PAY GRADE 11

ELECTRICIAN I

DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The employee in this class performs journeyman level electrician tasks. Work is

performed under general supervision. This position requires weekend and holiday work as well as participation in the twenty-four (24) hour on-call rotating schedule.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Installs and repairs electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment; performs periodic checks on controls and machinery; maintains motors, pumps, air blowers, transformers, power panels, lighting panels, heaters, lighting systems, generators and air compressors; reads and interprets blueprints and specifications; performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the principle measures, symbols, materials, components, tools and instruments of the trade; good knowledge of the rules and standards of electrical

construction, installation, trouble shooting repair; ability to install, operate, maintain and repair, power control and monitoring wiring systems, equipment and related apparatus; ability to follow blueprints; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and/or certifications; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, department heads, representatives from other agencies and the general public; must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years' industrial electrical work experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; solid customer service and organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

ELECTRICIAN II

DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The employee in this class performs journeyman level electrician tasks. Work is

performed under general supervision. This position requires weekend and holiday work as well as participation in the twenty-four (24) hour on-call rotating schedule.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Designs, lays out, installs and repairs electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment; performs periodic checks on controls and machinery; maintains motors, pumps, air

blowers, transformers, power panels, lighting panels, heaters, lighting systems, generators and air compressors; reads and interprets blueprints and specifications; may oversee and direct the work of others as assigned; performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Comprehensive knowledge of the principle measures, symbols, materials, components, tools and instruments of the trade; comprehensive knowledge of the rules and standards of electrical construction, installation, trouble shooting repair; ability to install, operate, maintain and repair power, control and monitoring wiring systems, equipment and related apparatus; ability to follow blueprints; knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and/or certifications; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, department heads, representatives from other agencies and the general public; must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of four (4) years industrial electrical work experience; possession of a valid state of Delaware Journeyperson Electrician License; excellent verbal and written communication skills; solid customer service and organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

ELECTRICIAN III

DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The employee in this class performs master level electrician tasks in the installation and maintenance of wiring, electrical systems and equipment, and mechanical systems.

Ensures that all electrical installations and modifications are National Electrical Code (NEC) compliant. Work is performed under general supervision. Employees in this class must use reasonable care, judgment, and the safe application of their knowledge in the performance of their duties. This position requires weekend and holiday work as well as participation in the twenty-four (24) hour on-call rotating schedule.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Designs, lays out, installs and performs/supervises repair of electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment; performs periodic checks on controls and machinery; maintains

motors, pumps, air blowers, transformers, power panels, lighting panels, heaters, lighting systems, generators and air compressors; reads, interprets, edits and develops blueprints and specifications; may oversee and direct the work of others; establishes and performs preventative maintenance programs; performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Extensive knowledge of the principle measures, symbols, materials, components, tools and instruments of the trade; extensive knowledge of the rules and standards of electrical construction, installation, trouble shooting repair; ability to install, operate, maintain and repair power, control and monitor wiring systems, equipment and related apparatus; ability to follow, edit and create blueprints; working knowledge of relay ladder or other language(s) for programming of the operating system in Programmable Logic Controllers; ability to control devices using either the Allen Bradley remote I/O or Modicon Modbus protocols in programmable controller applications; knowledge of estimating cost, time and materials for projects; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to interpret, follow and apply NEC Standards; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, department heads, representatives from other agencies and the general public; must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of six (6) years' industrial electrical work experience; possession of a valid State of Delaware Master Electrician General License; excellent verbal and written communication skills; solid customer service and organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), supervisory experience is preferred.
