SC - PAY GRADE 9
ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE
DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The incumbent in this class generally performs entry level electrician tasks. Responsible for providing competent assistance to electricians or others as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision from a higher-grade electrician. This position may require weekend and holiday work.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Performs basis tasks in support of Electricians involved in the installation repair and maintenance of wiring electrical systems and equipment
- Assists in the periodic checks on controls and machinery
- Performs assigned preventive maintenance program tasks for electrical equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Performs general custodial work to keep area and facilities clean and safe
- Performs related work as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Some knowledge of the rules and standards of electrical construction installation tools and terminology of the electrical trade
- Ability to assist with repairs to electrical equipment using safe practices
- Ability to perform manual work
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff department heads representatives from other agencies and the general public
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED with at least one 1 years experience in related field
- Formal Apprentice Electrician training preferred
- Must enroll or be enrolled in an approved electrician apprenticeship program and work toward a Journeyperson certificate within one 1 year of hire to retain position
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid customer service and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook Word Excel
SC - PAY GRADE 11
ELECTRICIAN I
DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The employee in this class performs journeyman level electrician tasks. Work is performed under general supervision. This position requires weekend and holiday work as well as participation in the twenty-four 24 hour on-call rotating schedule.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Installs and repairs electrical mechanical and electronic equipment
- Performs periodic checks on controls and machinery
- Maintains motors pumps air blowers transformers power panels lighting panels heaters lighting systems generators and air compressors
- Reads and interprets blueprints and specifications
- Performs related work as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the principle measures symbols materials components tools and instruments of the trade
- Good knowledge of the rules and standards of electrical construction installation trouble shooting repair
- Ability to install operate maintain and repair power control and monitoring wiring systems equipment and related apparatus
- Ability to follow blueprints
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses and/or certifications
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff department heads representatives from other agencies and the general public
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

Employees in this class must use reasonable care judgment and the safe application of their knowledge in the performance of their duties. This position requires weekend and holiday work as well as participation in the twenty-four 24 hour on-call rotating schedule.
