Facilities Services responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Job Summary
This position performs maintenance and repairs on Augusta University buildings electrical systems (480/208/120/24/12-volt systems). The systems that this position works on are interior and exterior lighting, generator systems, switchgear breakers, electrical sub panel breakers and wiring, fire alarm systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, air compressors, lighting controls, etc. This position is required to: Performs routine repairs on electrical and lighting system components. Tests and checks electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate testing instruments. Replace faulty switches, outlets, wiring, and other common 120V electrical system components such as lighting fixtures, tubes, ballast, receptacles, circuit breakers, occupancy sensor and relays. Performs the installation of basic electrical system components, to include switches, light fixtures, receptacles, fans, circuit breakers, and associated wiring. Assists higher level electricians in the execution of larger and more complex repair and installation projects. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with the latest version of the National Electrical Code. This position may be required to serve in on-call status and remain work-ready when scheduled for an on-call period or rotation.

Responds to Work Request
Respond to work orders in a quick and timely manner.
Communicate with customer explaining if work order is completed or if further work needs to be completed.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems in a quick a timely manner.
Communicate with supervisor any future work that needs to be completed to ensure all Augusta University equipment is effectively operating.
Document and notify supervisor of any equipment failure and/or potential failures.
Document all corrective actions in detail on assigned work requests.
Preventative Maintenance
Always leave equipment in safe working condition, immediately notify supervisor of dangerous situations.

Perform quarterly, mid-annual, and annual preventative maintenances on Augusta University electrical equipment based on manufactures required preventative maintenance requirements.
Performs all maintenance work in a neat and timely manner.
Perform preventative maintenance work on Augusta University electrical systems as well as fire alarm systems.
Keep records of completed preventative maintenance as well as any future work that needs to be completed.
Communicate to supervisor of any shutdowns that need to occur to complete preventative maintenance of Augusta University electrical equipment.
Communicate with supervisor once preventative maintenance is complete and equipment has been returned to normal operation.
Leadership
Utilizes effective critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills to make decisions and communicates tactfully to Facilities Leadership.
Contract Management
Estimates materials needed and records time and material expended on each work order. Prepares and submits material requisitions required to complete assigned tasks.
Reads, interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures.
Perform shutdowns of assigned systems as required for maintenance or for project support.
Communications
Consistently provide professional, accurate, tactful, and timely written and verbal communications to Facilities staff as well as other Augusta University staff.
Establishes and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with Facility Operations and customers.
Performs Related Work as Required
Employees will follow all Augusta University and Facilities Operations policies and procedures.
Work with scheduled contractors to complete projects and report to the supervisor once project is complete and if any future work needs to be completed.
Wear provided facility operations uniform and maintain good hygiene.
Respond to requests received from facilities operations work management team.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization with one year of electrical experience; Valid drivers license.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
Must have general mechanical aptitude and be able to safely and effectively operate hand tools, physically enter and work inside of small, confined spaces (boilers, vaults, and pressure vessels), climb ladders and work at various heights. This position requires a moderate amount of physical exertion daily. That includes walking, lifting heavy objects up to (75lbs), kneeling, and crawling.

Shift: Days: Monday - Friday. This position may be required to serve in on-call status and remain work-ready when scheduled for an on-call period or rotation.
Pay Band: 8
Salary Minimum: $21.83/hour - $21.91/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
