Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
Installation and repair of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, ATS equipment, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, disconnects, motors, heating units, conduit systems, variable frequency drives, UPS, MCC’s, Etc.
Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
Use a variety of electrician hand tools and test & measurement instruments.
Perform maintenance and service as needed to support ongoing facility operations for the Facilities Department.
Perform monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance on assigned distribution systems and report corrective actions required.
Communicates with customers regarding work request status and coordination.
Completes written work request notes reflecting details accomplished.
Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed, to include nights and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
Journeyman or Master Electrician License required.
OSHA 10 Preferred
GED or High School Diploma
Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment.
Able to understand verbal or written directions from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop, and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where the likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance after hire.
