What You'll Do
  • Install, repair, and test electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, switches, panels, transformers, and lighting fixtures.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, generators, batteries, and timing devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance: inspect, clean, oil, and adjust electrical systems.
  • Locate underground cables using the Diggers Hotline Network.
  • Troubleshoot low- and high-voltage systems using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and meggers.
  • Install and repair streetlight poles, underground cables, and beacon lights on City water towers.
  • Inspect and maintain transformers, switches, and control cabinets.
  • Read and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Estimate job costs, sketch circuits, and order necessary materials.
  • Drive City vehicles and perform duties safely and lawfully.
  • Communicate clearly, attend work regularly, and perform other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • Certified Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
