Description:
We are seeking an experienced Electromechanical Engineer to support advanced engineering development and prototype manufacturing for complex, mission-critical hardware systems.
This is a 3-year contract opportunity supporting innovative technologies used in aerospace, defense, and national security applications.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in manufacturing engineering, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), engineering documentation, and electromechanical assembly processes.
This role serves as a critical link between Engineering and Manufacturing, translating complex engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications into clear, executable manufacturing instructions that support efficient, high-quality prototype builds.

The position supports a variety of hardware technologies, including printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), cable and wire harnesses, precision-machined components, mechanical enclosures, and integrated electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Engineering & Documentation

• Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process routings, travelers, and assembly documentation for complex prototype hardware.
• Translate engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical data packages into executable manufacturing processes within a Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
• Create manufacturing documentation for PCBAs, cable/harness assemblies, machined components, chassis, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Define manufacturing sequences, assembly requirements, inspection criteria, and acceptance standards.
• Maintain configuration control and accurate documentation throughout engineering revisions and prototype builds.

Engineering & Manufacturing Collaboration

• Partner with design engineers, manufacturing technicians, and production planning teams to ensure manufacturing readiness.
• Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews, technical kickoff meetings, and production readiness assessments.
• Validate manufacturing work instructions with shop floor personnel to ensure accuracy, clarity, and practicality.
• Support rapid-turn prototype manufacturing, troubleshooting production challenges, and resolving technical issues.

Quality & Process Improvement

• Incorporate quality requirements, inspection procedures, and acceptance criteria into manufacturing documentation.
• Support nonconformance investigations, engineering changes, and corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, process consistency, and documentation quality.
• Contribute to improvements in digital manufacturing tools, MES workflows, and manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another STEM discipline.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, manufacturing operations, or technical manufacturing documentation.
• 2+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications.
• 2+ years of experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), such as FactoryLogix or comparable platforms.
• Experience developing manufacturing work instructions, process routings, travelers, or other production documentation.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and engineering-to-production workflows.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production Planning teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in prototype manufacturing, high-mix/low-volume production, or rapid-turn hardware development.
• Familiarity with PCB/PCBA manufacturing, surface mount technology (SMT), cable and wire harness assembly, precision machining, or electromechanical integration.
• Experience with FactoryLogix or similar digital manufacturing platforms.
• Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), MES integration, ERP/MRP systems, and manufacturing BOMs.
• Experience with engineering change management, configuration control, and manufacturing documentation revisions.
• Exposure to aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting project planning, manufacturing readiness, and cross-functional production execution.

Work Location & Security Requirements

• 100% onsite: Candidates must be available to work onsite five days per week.
• Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. An interim clearance is sufficient to begin work.
• Interview Process: Initial virtual interview followed by an onsite interview.
