Elementary Instructional Aide
Location: Houston, TX
School: Westbury Christian School
Salary: $16.00-18.00 per hour

Job Summary:

Westbury Christian School is seeking passionate and dedicated Christian professionals to serve as elementary instructional aides on a full-time basis, beginning immediately. Lower School Instructional Aides support teachers and help students grow academically, socially, and spiritually. This position provides individual and small-group support, assists with daily classroom activities, and helps maintain a safe, caring, and organized learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with students individually or in small groups to practice and reinforce skills taught by the teacher.
• Provide pull-out support using lessons, materials, and directions provided by the teacher.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities, learning centers, and student assignments.
• Prepare instructional materials, organize supplies, make copies, and assist with classroom setup.
• Encourage positive behavior and help students follow classroom routines and school expectations.
• Supervise students during assigned duties, including arrival, lunch, recess, transitions, and dismissal.
• Share student progress, needs, and concerns with the teacher.
• Help maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized classroom.
• Protect student and family confidentiality.
• Model Christian character and support the mission and values of Westbury Christian School.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
  

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working with children in a school, childcare, church, or similar setting preferred.
• Patient, dependable, flexible, and willing to follow teacher direction.
• A strong commitment to Christian values and integration of faith in the classroom.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable helping students with basic reading, writing, and math.
• Able to actively supervise children and assist with daily classroom activities.

Physical Requirement:

• Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to move around classroom, navigating student desks and materials
• Ability to bend, stoop, and sit on floor, depending on age of children in class
• Ability to communicate clearly and audibly, including speaking and hearing
• Manual dexterity to use office equipment, manipulate books and other learning materials, and assist students with various activities
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
