    1 BELLMAWR SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Elementary Principal Preschool - Grade 4 QUALIFICATIONS

    • Valid New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility (CE) or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS), or Standard Principal Certificate.
    • Three (3) years' experience as vice principal and/or supervisor preferred.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of curriculum development, program evaluation, professional development, and social and emotional learning.
    • Experience implementing and overseeing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework, including RTI and academic/behavioral intervention planning.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices, including explicit and systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
    • Familiarity with research-based instructional frameworks, Visible Learning
    • Experience with integrating Restorative Practices and PBSIS.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship.
    • Pass a physical examination in accordance with statute and board policy. REPORTS TO Superintendent POSITION GOALS The school Principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the school Principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for curriculum development, data analysis, scheduling, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assume responsibility for the management of the school in accordance with law, administrative code, and board policies and regulations.
    • Establish and maintain an effective, positive social/emotional learning climate in the school.
    • Assist in the selection of appropriate instructional materials and monitor delivery of the instructional program.
    • Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of curriculum and assume responsibility for the implementation of approved programs. 2 Literacy / Science of Reading
    • Ensure that reading instruction across the school is grounded in the Science of Reading, including explicit, systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
    • Support teachers in administering universal literacy screeners (e.g., benchmark/diagnostic assessments) and in using data to identify students at risk for reading difficulties.
    • Provide or coordinate professional development for staff on structured literacy practices and ensure instructional coaching supports the transfer of Science of Reading principles into classroom practice. PBSIS, SEL & MTSS
    • Lead the implementation of a Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS) framework, including establishing clear behavioral expectations, a tiered system of supports, and consistent, restorative responses to behavior.
    • Establish a School Culture and Climate/PBSIS team and ensure regular use of behavioral data to guide decision-making and identify students in need of Tier 2/3 supports.
    • Integrate SEL competencies (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making) into daily instruction and school culture.
    • Oversee the implementation of a school-wide Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), including tiered academic and behavioral interventions. Instruction, Personnel & Data
    • Plan, organize, and supervise all curricular and extracurricular activities.
    • Interview, recommend appointments, assign, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all school employees and assist them in achievement of their job goals.
    • Conduct observations of teaching staff members; prepare written comments; and offer constructive suggestions for improvement when appropriate.
    • Facilitate a system of walkthroughs and informal instructional feedback, in addition to formal observations, to support continuous teacher growth.
    • Analyze school-wide achievement, growth, and demographic data to identify trends, set measurable goals, and guide instructional decision-making.
    • Lead the school's participation in state and district assessment systems and ensure compliance with testing security protocols. Compliance & Student Services
    • Ensure compliance with special education law (IDEA), Section 504, and English Language Learner (ELL/Bilingual/ESL) program requirements, including timely evaluations and services.
    • Ensure compliance with mandated reporting requirements related to student safety and welfare (abuse/neglect reporting). 3
    • Ensure the safekeeping of student and personnel files and other confidential records and documents, and the destruction of public records in accordance with law and regulations. Safety & Operations
    • Develop and maintain the school's emergency operations/crisis response plan in coordination with local law enforcement and emergency services, beyond routine fire/security drills.
    • Conduct regular safety and security audits of the building and grounds, and ensure staff are trained in emergency procedures.
    • Plan and supervise fire and other emergency drills as required by law and board policy.
    • Establish and maintain an efficient office system to support the administrative functions of the school.
    • Prepare and submit the school's budget requests and monitor the expenditure of funds.
    • Ensure the proper collection, safekeeping, and accounting of school activity funds. Student Conduct & Support Services
    • Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce restorative discipline as necessary in accordance with board policy and the students' rights to due process.
    • Participate in the planning and delivery of intervention and referral services for pupils who are having difficulty in their classes and who have not been classified in need of special education. Administration, Communication & Community
    • Prepare or supervise the preparation of all reports, records, and other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration.
    • Conduct instructional PLC meetings, grounded in Visible Learning research and collaborative analysis of student data.
    • Plan and supervise regularly scheduled parent/teacher conferences, and plan for special conferences, as necessary.
    • Act as a liaison between the school, home, and community; interpret policies, programs, and activities; and encourage broad community participation in the affairs of the school. Communicate information to parents and the community that is required by law or administrative code.
    • Keep the superintendent informed of school activities and needs and work cooperatively with central office staff on matters relating to the school and the district.
    • Develop and maintain a master schedule for the academic and extracurricular programs, and work cooperatively with the business administrator to schedule community use of the school building and grounds.
    • Attend BOE meetings, special events held to recognize student achievement, and other school-sponsored activities and functions. 4 Professional Growth
    • Assume responsibility for his/her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, memberships in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications.
    • Perform other duties which may be assigned or required by law, code, and regulation/board policy. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months per year Salary to be determined by the Board of Education negotiation process. Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
