Elementary School Bus Driver 2026-2027

Position Summary:

Ambassador Christian Academy is seeking dependable and safety-minded individual to serve as Elementary School Bus Driver. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of elementary school students to and from school and school-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create assigned routes and bus schedule
• Operate a school bus safely along assigned routes and schedule
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition
• Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns
• Track routine maintenance needs (e.g., oil changes, tire checks, brake inspections) and notify transportation administration when service is due
• Ensure the bus remains clean, fueled, and properly maintained at all times
• Ensure student safety during loading, unloading, and transit
• Maintain discipline and adhere to school transportation policies
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff
• Transport students for field trips and extracurricular activities and other school events as needed
• Keep accurate records related to transportation activities

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check, and drug/alcohol screening
• Strong understanding of traffic laws and school bus safety regulations
• Minimum age: 21 years
• Prior experience in student transportation or working with children preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience driving a school bus or other large commercial vehicle
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Patience and a strong sense of responsibility
