    Elementary Teacher - Spanish Instruction

    MISSION

    Global Preparatory Academy develops compassionate global leaders through a bilingual/bi-literate education program that focuses on hands-on and cultural learning opportunities.

    SUMMARY

    Global Prep Academy, a dual language school that connects students from diverse linguistic backgrounds and educates them together in a highly rigorous, engaging and nurturing environment. Using both English and Spanish to instruct students in all core content areas, students will develop high levels of bilingualism and biliteracy, as well as a deep value and understanding of other cultures. As citizens in a global world, students at Global Prep gain limitless access to other cultures through bilingualism and instruction, which emphasizes critical thinking using global perspectives and experiential learning. Through two-way immersion (TWI) in English and Spanish, students will affirm the values of their own cultures while acquiring an understanding and appreciation of other cultures. Our students attain bilingualism in a natural process through everyday conversation and content instruction. We are committed to providing relevant instruction pushing our students to be critical thinkers and change makers in an ever-changing world.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Global Preparatory Academy is seeking a dedicated Elementary School Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction in Spanish within our dual language learning community. The teacher will provide standards-aligned instruction in core subjects, build strong classroom culture, and support the academic and social-emotional growth of all scholars. The ideal candidate is committed to student success, collaboration, and culturally responsive teaching in a diverse, globally minded school environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Instruction & Curriculum

    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Spanish aligned to Indiana Academic Standards.
    • Communicate clear learning objectives and success criteria to students.
    • Differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners.
    • Assess and monitor student progress through weekly checks and formal assessments.
    • Use student data to adjust instruction and respond to misconceptions.
    • Assume shared responsibility for student achievement and grade-level proficiency.

    Collaboration & School Culture

    • Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom environment that supports student learning and growth.
    • Build strong relationships with students and families through consistent communication and partnership.
    • Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and ongoing family engagement.
    • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and school leaders to strengthen instruction and student outcomes.
    • Engage in professional development, curriculum meetings, and school-based learning communities.
    • Support GPA's mission, values, and culturally affirming approach to education.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS

    • Perform duties as assigned to support school operations, student supervision, and community-building activities.
    • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Works primarily in an elementary classroom setting within a dual language school community.
    • Responsibilities may involve standing, walking, and active supervision of students throughout the school day.
    • Requires consistent attendance and professional engagement due to daily interaction with scholars.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

    • Strong knowledge of elementary instructional practices and classroom management.
    • Ability to provide positive behavioral and academic support in individual and group settings.
    • Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to working in diverse communities.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and school leadership.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
    • Familiarity with state and federal education requirements and student support systems.

    EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND

    • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Indiana Professional Teaching License.
    • Experience in urban education settings is strongly preferred.
    • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, though instruction for this role is delivered in Spanish.
