The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment; implement high-quality instruction aligned to curriculum standards; and support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. Teachers must demonstrate a commitment to equity, student-centered learning, and ongoing professional growth.RESPONSIBILITIES:Deliver standards-based instruction in core subject areas including literacy, math, science, and social studiesCreate a supportive, positive, and inclusive classroom culture that promotes learning for all studentsDifferentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners and students with IEPs/504sUtilize formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and track student progressEstablish clear routines, expectations, and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly classroomCollaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff to plan and implement effective instructionCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activitiesParticipate in school-based teams, professional development, and data-driven planning sessionsIntegrate technology to enhance teaching and student learningSupport the social-emotional development of students through positive behavior strategies and responsive practicesMaintain accurate student records and complete required reports and documentationKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate instructional practicesAbility to create and implement engaging lessons that support a range of learnersEffective classroom management and organization skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of curriculum standards and assessment strategiesExperience with culturally responsive teaching and inclusive practicesQUALIFICATIONS:Connecticut State Department of Education Elementary Certification (013)Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred)Experience working in a diverse, urban school setting preferredFamiliarity with instructional technology and digital learning toolsBilingual or multilingual candidates encouraged to applySALARY:Salary and benefits are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NEA Danbury and the Danbury Board of Education, available on the district website.
