Minimum Qualifications Must possess a Qualified Elevator Inspector credential issued by an Accredited Certifying Organization as specified in the ASME QEI-1 standard. Must be eligible to register as a Certified Elevator Inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as specified in Chapter 399, Florida Statutes within 45 calendar days after date of hire. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must possess a Driver license. All credentials and licenses must be in good standing with the Certifying Organization with no pending complaints. Recruitment Notes The Elevator Inspector position is responsible for performing required inspections and regulatory activities to ensure elevator safety and code compliance throughout Miami-Dade County. Incumbents in this position conduct routine and follow-up inspections, quality assurance, complaint inspections, accident investigations, and enforcement actions in accordance with the Elevator Safety Code and established Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER) performance benchmarks. Additionally, this role supports a broad range of inspection activities associated with new construction, modernization projects, and existing elevator systems, including aging infrastructure that requires increased monitoring. Additional responsibilities include documenting inspection results, coordinating with contractors and building representatives, and supporting the timely issuance of Certificates of Operation. As inspection activity continues to increase due to development, modernization, and ongoing safety requirements, incumbents in this role play a key role in maintaining inspection schedules, supporting compliance objectives, and ensuring consistent service delivery across County-managed and private facilities.
