Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced remote-control and autonomy technologies for machine applications. This engineer will design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software and electronic control systems, working across software, hardware, controls, communication networks, and vision systems. The role combines hands-on Embedded C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink development with system architecture, requirements engineering, integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting. The engineer will collaborate with a small development team and global engineering groups to deliver robust, production-ready remote-control solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define system requirements, architecture, interfaces, and end-to-end feature traceability for embedded remote-control systems.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and validate systems spanning embedded software, hardware, controls, communication networks, and vision systems.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software using Embedded C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink in RTOS-based environments.
  • Perform system integration, verification and validation (V&V), troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Support functional safety, FMEA, product quality, testing, and software release activities.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools, such as GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot, to improve development, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with remote-control system engineers and global teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant embedded software/systems engineering experience, with strong experience in embedded system development and integration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Embedded C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong embedded development experience involving RTOS.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of system integration experience.
  • Knowledge of requirements engineering, system architecture, electrical schematics, system integration, and V&V.
  • Experience with CAN, Ethernet, and embedded control systems.
  • Experience with tools such as CANoe/CANalyzer, Wireshark, and Git.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Microsoft Copilot.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with autonomy, robotics, remote control, or machine-control systems.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR, Functional Safety, FMEA, HIL/SIL, DOORS/Jama, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience developing embedded systems that integrate software with controls, hardware, communication networks, sensors, or vision systems.
  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly while working effectively within collaborative engineering teams.
Why This Role?
This position provides the opportunity to work on next-generation remote-control and autonomy technology for advanced machine applications. You'll contribute across the full engineering lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through embedded software development, system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production release. Cullerton Group provides a professional environment with growth potential and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, technically challenging engineering programs.
