    Description

    Job Title: Embedded Tester (Design Verification Testing - DVT Role)

    Location: Alameda, CA
    Job Type: Contract

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Manual Software Verification:
      • Perform manual testing of embedded software to ensure functionality, performance, and compliance with design specifications.
    2. Test Protocol Development:
      • Design, review, and update test protocols to ensure comprehensive verification of software and hardware systems.
    3. Compliance and Risk Management:
      • Ensure compliance with medical device standards, including ISO 13485 (Quality Management), ISO 14971 (Risk Management), and IEC 62304 (Software Development Lifecycle).
    4. Test Equipment Operation:
      • Utilize and maintain test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, DMMs (Digital Multimeters), and PSUs (Power Supply Units).
    5. Communication Protocol Testing:
      • Test and validate communication protocols like RS-232 and RS-485 to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
    6. Design Verification Testing (DVT):
      • Conduct DVT to verify that the product meets all design requirements and specifications.
    7. Defect Identification and Analysis:
      • Identify, document, and analyze defects, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with development teams to implement solutions.
    8. Documentation and Reporting:
      • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, protocols, and compliance reports.
    9. Collaboration and Communication:
      • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, and quality assurance professionals.
      • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

    Mandatory Skills and Qualifications:

    • Embedded Systems Testing: Strong experience in manual software verification for embedded devices.
    • Medical Device Standards: Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 62304.
    • Test Equipment Expertise: Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, DMMs, and PSUs.
    • Communication Protocols: Proficiency in testing RS-232 and RS-485 protocols.
    • Design Verification Testing (DVT): Proven experience in DVT for embedded systems.
    • Regulated Industry Experience: Prior experience in medical devices, aerospace, or automotive industries.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present findings clearly.

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with automated testing tools for embedded systems.
    • Knowledge of Agile or Waterfall development methodologies.
    • Familiarity with FDA regulations for medical devices.
    • Experience in root cause analysis and defect prevention.
