    Emergency Department Registered Nurse

    East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas

    East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking Emergency Department Registered Nurses who are confident, focused, and skilled in fast-moving clinical situations. This position is designed for nurses who can quickly assess patient needs, stabilize urgent conditions, and deliver compassionate care when patients and families are often experiencing their most stressful moments.

    About the Role

    The ED RN will support triage, emergency stabilization, treatment, monitoring, discharge, and transfer workflows. This role requires strong clinical instincts, clear communication, and the ability to work closely with emergency physicians, EMS, respiratory therapy, radiology, lab, registration, pharmacy, and inpatient departments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assess, triage, and prioritize patients based on acuity, clinical presentation, and emergency department protocols.
    • Provide nursing care for urgent and emergent conditions including cardiac, respiratory, trauma, neurological, behavioral health, and general medical cases.
    • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, emergency therapies, and other provider-ordered interventions.
    • Assist with procedures, codes, rapid responses, wound care, splinting, conscious sedation support, and patient stabilization.
    • Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate meaningful changes to providers without delay.
    • Coordinate with EMS, transfer centers, inpatient units, and ancillary departments to support patient flow.
    • Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, medication administration, and disposition accurately.
    • Uphold EMTALA, HIPAA, infection prevention, medication safety, and emergency department standards.

    Scheduling and Availability

    Full-time and part-time openings may include 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and high-volume coverage periods. Applicants should identify preferred shift availability.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Active RN license in the State of Texas or compact RN license in good standing.
    • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
    • PALS and TNCC preferred or required within facility-defined timeframe.
    • Recent Emergency Department, critical care, urgent care, or high-acuity nursing experience preferred.
    • Ability to remain composed, decisive, and professional in a high-pressure setting.
