Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)

Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician (Basic EMT)Location: Johnson County Hospital, Tecumseh, NebraskaDepartment: EMSReports To: EMS CoordinatorPosition Summary: The Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) will perform all interfacility transports from Johnson County Hospital and the surrounding communities. EMT's will assist nursing staff in providing patient care within the facility. The EMT will report to the EMS Coordinator and provide care within the facility under the direction of a hospitalist and nursing staff. Interfacility care will be provided in accordance with the Nebraska State Model Protocols. The hospital does not operate as a primary 911 response service.Duties & Responsibilities: Perform patient care within the full scope of an EMT Basic as defined by the Nebraska State Model Protocols.Assist nursing staff and paramedics in stabilizing patients in the Emergency Department.Prepare and transport patients safely during interfacility transfers, monitoring conditions and reporting changes promptly.Perform intake procedures, including obtaining and documenting vital signs, medication histories, and allergies.Assist nursing staff with patient hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.Collect laboratory specimens and perform EKGs as directed by medical staff.Document patient care accurately and promptly in electronic health records.Collaborate with nursing staff and paramedics to ensure seamless patient care transitions.Maintain equipment and inventory of supplies, including BLS and ALS, and be accountable for medications on every EMS unit.Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance, station maintenance, public education, public relations, and emergency medical service training.Participate in continuing education and maintain required certifications.Qualifications & Skills:High School Diploma or Equivalent Current State of Nebraska EMT-B License Valid Driver's License Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Preferred Qualifications: NREMT CertificationEVOC CourseBenefits We Offer: Competitive wagesComprehensive health, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement savings planProfessional development opportunitiesSupportive and collaborative work environmentPaid time offSick payWhy Join Us?At Johnson County Hospital, we value our team and foster a supportive environment where you can thrive.
