    Job Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Emergency Department to lead a newly renovated and expanded Emergency Department. This role is ideal for a strong clinical leader with emergency nursing expertise and demonstrated management experience who is passionate about patient safety, quality outcomes, and team development.

    The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, age-appropriate patient care while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership & Operations

    • Provide overall leadership and day-to-day management of the Emergency Department
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards, including National Patient Safety Goals
    • Monitor departmental budgets, productivity, staffing levels, overtime, and premium pay utilization
    • Serve as a role model, advisor, and clinical resource to staff and interdisciplinary teams

    Staff Management & Development

    • Hire, onboard, mentor, and retain nursing staff

    • Ensure all staff competencies, certifications, and education requirements are completed
    • Manage performance, provide coaching, and address disciplinary actions when necessary
    • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative work environment

    Patient Care & Experience

    • Champion exceptional patient and family experiences

    • Support evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives

    • Ensure rapid response to emergent and critical patient situations

    Resource Stewardship

    • Ensure accurate payroll and staffing alignment

    • Act as a responsible steward of organizational resources

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a CCNE-accredited program

    • Active Maryland RN License (MBON)

    • 5+ years of Emergency Department nursing experience

    • 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience

    • BLS (AHA) – Required

    • ACLS & PALS (AHA) – Required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Masters degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, MA, or MS)

    • National nursing certification (preferred within 1 year of hire)

    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (per unit guidelines
