COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULING
The typical starting rate for someone with a 4 year degree and limited experience is $40,000 per year, with a max of $46,000 per year for more experienced applicants who can demonstrate experience managing a case load specific to substance abuse recovery and mental health complexities. We will consider a candidate with an Associate's degree or diploma/GED if they can demonstrate the equivalent knowledge through their professional experience and/or certifications.
Our Addiction Recovery Genesis Counselor offers the following schedule Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. As an essential position within a 24/7 environment, shifts may vary based on need. While we can't offer the option of hybrid or remote work we can provide a meaningful work experience.
This role requires a valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
GENERALSUMMARYOFPOSITION:
This on-site position reports directly to the program manager and assists with intake and assessments, facilitate groups on substance use and behavioral health needs, conducts drug screening as needed or required, and performs case management.
The Genesis Counselor is responsible for a case load up to 22individuals in 9-month, all-male, residential program. They will take apersoncenteredandtraumainformedcareapproachinmeetingwithclientstodiscusstheirgoalsforwhentheyareinprogramand post program graduation and then plan a course of action. To ensure continuous enrollment in our program the employee will perform outreachtoguestsinouremergencyshelter.
GenesisCounselorsmayperforminspectionsofsleepingareasandmonitorresidentialliving,performmonitoredurinalysisdrugtesting, and address client substance abuse, conflicts and altercations. These positions are required to enter shower areas,bathrooms, resident rooms, or other areas that are personal in nature to conduct inspections, drug testing and address concerns or any behavior issues.Thiscanresultinexposuretomeninvariousstatesofdress.
