Energy Efficiency Intern - Summer 2027

GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a college undergraduate student to assist with research and analysis projects of a technical nature in our Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Department. Our student engineer will assist our team in developing energy efficiency projects. The position is geared towards mechanical/industrial engineering students who are entering their junior or senior year of study.

Responsibility Scope

• Assist Project Engineers with engineering analysis, design and commissioning of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects
• Assist with lighting and water surveys and identification of energy savings opportunities
• Become familiar with HVAC systems, including the ability to identify different systems and equipment, identify potential energy savings measures, and quantify the potential energy savings
• Analyze utility data to analyze existing customer loads and rate schedules
• Prepare technical content, analyses, reports, and participate in critical peer review
• Understand metering and measurement tools and the data output from devices
• Update costing libraries
• Provide other support and office administrative assistance as required
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

Required Experience:

• College student who has completed at least sophomore level engineering classes, in good academic standing, pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline
• Prior co-op or internship experience is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be detail oriented, well organized, and possess excellent follow-up skills
• Must be self–motivated, able to multi-task and work independently
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required
• Ability to perform technical calculations and prepare deliverables
• Willingness and ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects
• Reliable transportation is a must, as this position can involve light travel to onsite customer locations (NH, MA)
