As an Engagement Manager in our Strategy & Transformation practice, you will take end-to-end responsibility for multiple workstreams and client engagements within complex, strategic transformation and value creation initiatives. You will work hands-on with owners, boards, and senior management teams to enhance performance, improve profitability, unlock value, and implement sustainable change.

Rather than being limited to short-term crisis containment, this role focuses on using high-impact strategic initiatives as a platform for enterprise-wide transformation and value creation, with measurable performance improvement—particularly in situations involving underperformance, strategic repositioning, or complex change environments. You will help design, structure, and drive transformation programs end-to-end, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into operational execution and tangible results across finance, operations, and organization.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead transformation and performance improvement engagements or major workstreams in time-critical, high-impact situations

  • Design and execute hands-on value creation and transformation programs, taking ownership from initial hypothesis through implementation and results realization

  • Take responsibility for Transformation Office setup and leadership for large-scale transformation and value creation programs, ensuring a clear link between initiatives and measurable outcomes

  • Act as transformation office lead, coordinating initiatives, driving accountability across teams, and ensuring delivery against defined outcomes

  • Analyze corporate performance and identify key financial and operational value drivers, translating insights into clear, actionable initiatives

  • Develop and manage integrated financial and operating models (cash flow, liquidity, P&L, balance sheet, scenarios) to steer transformation initiatives and support value creation tracking

  • Take an active role in on-site execution, working closely with client teams to remove barriers and ensure initiatives translate into measurable improvements in performance and profitability

  • Manage communication with senior stakeholders, including management teams, shareholders, lenders, and investors

  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior team members in a high-performance team environment

  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across operations, transactions, legal, and tax

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred

  • Minimum of 6 to 8 years of professional experience in transformation, performance improvement, value creation, private equity, transaction services, or top-tier management consulting

  • Proven experience leading complex engagements or workstreams with clear ownership of outcomes, ideally in situations requiring both strategic structuring and hands-on execution

  • Experience comparable to Engagement Manager / Manager level in a top-tier consulting environment

  • Proven track record in Transformation Office roles and large-scale transformation governance

  • Experience supporting or working alongside transformation leaders or executive strategy leadership

  • Strong understanding of financial and operational value drivers across the end-to-end value chain

  • Advanced skills in financial modeling, cash flow management, and KPI-based performance steering

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and translate loosely defined problems into structured approaches

  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and build a compelling case for change

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, execution-focused approach

  • Comfortable flexing between big-picture strategy and operational detail

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with credibility at senior-management level

Location and Travel:
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Charlotte, NC area

  • Willingness to travel frequently to client sites as required for project execution

What sets us apart:
  • Real Impact: You work on high-stakes situations with direct influence on company growth and long-term success.

  • Leadership Path: Clear development track toward Senior Manager and Partner-level roles.

  • Interim Management Opportunities: Early exposure to operational leadership roles in client organizations.

  • Entrepreneurial Culture: High-growth environment, flat hierarchies, and the opportunity to help shape the firm.

  • Global Exposure: International project assignments and collaboration with diverse teams.

  • Early Responsibility: Direct interaction with client leadership and financial stakeholders from day one.
