Engineer (Hotel Maintenance) – Hospitality
Location: Mount Laurel, NJ Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Contract Duration: 6 months, with conversion to a full-time permanent position after successful completion of the contract Pay Rate:$18.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Hotel Maintenance Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience to maintain the hotel's guest rooms, common areas, equipment, and building systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with general building maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with hotel staff and guests are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and preventive maintenance throughout the hotel.
Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical spaces for maintenance issues.
Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical problems.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
Repair or replace fixtures, light switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, doors, locks, and other equipment.
Perform basic HVAC troubleshooting and coordinate with outside contractors when specialized repairs are required.
Maintain hotel equipment and building systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Complete preventive maintenance inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records.
Respond to emergency maintenance situations and safety concerns.
Coordinate with housekeeping and front desk teams to address room maintenance issues.
Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
Follow OSHA, safety, fire, and hotel policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in hotel, hospitality, building, facilities, or general maintenance.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Skills
Previous hotel maintenance or facilities maintenance experience.
Experience with hotel Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs.
Experience with HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, and building equipment.
Knowledge of hotel maintenance or property management systems is a plus.
Experience working with vendors and outside contractors.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
