About the Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to work with critical operational technology, EMS/SCADA platforms, cybersecurity initiatives, and real-time energy systems in a highly specialized environment.

Position Summary

The Energy Control Systems Engineer supports the applications and infrastructure that enable reliable electric system operations. Responsibilities include application administration, system support, troubleshooting, cybersecurity, upgrades, backup and recovery, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain EMS, SCADA, and operational technology applications.

• Monitor system performance, availability, and security.

• Install patches, upgrades, and software releases.

• Troubleshoot incidents and support system recovery efforts.

• Maintain technical documentation and procedures.

• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, database, and vendor teams.

• Provide technical support and training to users and operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Experience supporting EMS, SCADA, operational technology, utility systems, or enterprise applications.

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and analytical skills.

• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 operations.

Preferred Experience

• EMS, SCADA, ICCP, AGC, forecasting, interchange scheduling, dispatch, or other utility operations applications.

• Linux, UNIX, Windows Server, networking, databases, and enterprise systems support.

• C, C++, Java, SQL, shell scripting, Oracle, XML, or related technologies.

• NERC CIP compliance, cybersecurity, backup/recovery, and system resiliency.

Leveling

• Engineer I: Entry-level support of EMS/SCADA applications and system operations.

• Engineer II: Independently supports administration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and recovery activities.

• Senior Engineer: Provides technical leadership, mentors team members, manages complex incidents, and supports critical operational technology platforms.
