Program Overview

Our student engineering program offers hands-on experience across multiple disciplines in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Interns and co-ops gain exposure to real-world projects, technical challenges, and cross-functional collaboration-building a strong foundation for future careers.

Internship Tracks

Manufacturing Engineering Interns

• Design tools and fixtures using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
• Support continuous improvement and production troubleshooting
• Create and revise operator instructions
• Assist with asset management, safety audits, and plant layout planning

Product Development Engineering Interns

• Gain exposure to Shape's Product Development processes, including SPMP, enterProj, Plex, and Smartsheet systems
• Learn the fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and drawing development
• Work with Teamcenter and VisMockUp to manage and visualize product data
• Assist in the creation and review of key engineering documents such as DFMEA, DVP&R, and technical drawings
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product design and process development initiatives

Additional Responsibilities

• Apply engineering calculations to real-world problems
• Manage cross-functional projects
• Create technical documentation and present findings
• Take on additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor
