Job Title: Engineering/Technical - GIS Mapper
Duration: 2 years
Location: South Plainfield, NJ 07080

Schedule:

• The first 6 to 12 weeks all contractors are expected to be onsite every day to be trained. Also, contractors do need to be able to commute once a week to a secondary location.
• Hybrid (3 days onsite/ 2 offsite – based on business need)

Introduction

We are seeking a skilled GIS Mapper to join our team for a 2-year project. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing GIS data related to utility systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data management and reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of the company’s business applications.
• Familiarity with material, equipment, and apparatus used in utility work.
• Understanding of the Utilities’ Transmission and Distribution systems.
• Knowledge of operating and maintenance handbooks and manuals, including safety rules and practices.
• Must be able to work at various client locations based on business needs/workload.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey.
• Proficiency in MS Office and other Windows applications.
• Prior work experience at client or in client's industry.

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Maintain the GIS connected model with information from various sources.
• Perform analysis or queries to assemble data and prepare reports, tabulations, charts, and maps.
• Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests.
• Maintain service point data and the relationship to feeding source transformer.
• Track lifespan of utility asset data, including history, inspection, and attachments.
• Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through office or field investigation.
• Perform GIS work pertaining to major projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangement, and new business.
• Operate automated office equipment and file records and data pertaining to the work.
• Perform manual or computer-aided drafting.
• Operate a car or light truck and assist other employees in plant work, in the field, or in the office.
• Perform other similar skilled work.
