Job Summary:

The Engineering Technician will support the Media Development Engineering organization by operating and maintaining an Intevac 200L sputter machine while executing engineering experiments in a controlled cleanroom environment. This role focuses on running sputter processes, collecting metrology data, and supporting engineering teams with accurate documentation, equipment operation, and technical feedback to improve manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the Intevac 200L sputter machine to process engineering experiments as requested by engineering staff.
  • Process experiments precisely according to documented procedures and engineering instructions.
  • Collect sputter-related data using metrology tools and provide results to engineering teams.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, processes, and operational data.
  • Provide constructive feedback to coworkers and engineering leads to support process improvements.
  • Provide technical support and suggestions to engineering teams when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to exceed operational and development goals.
  • Support pilot line operations including processing media through various manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Perform measurement of media, data entry, and provide feedback on results to engineering and management.
  • Work within a Class 10 / 100 cleanroom environment following all safety procedures and protocols.

Required Experience:

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing full PPE including head-to-toe suits, masks, and safety glasses.
  • Strong ability to follow procedures, protocols, and detailed engineering instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams via email, phone, and documentation.
  • Computer proficiency including Windows systems and Excel.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and stepping on step stools when accessing equipment.
  • Ability to transport materials between workstations using carts or manual carrying.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent attendance, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Availability to work Saturdays and overtime as required.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Experience operating sputtering or vacuum deposition equipment.
  • Experience working in semiconductor, manufacturing, or cleanroom environments.
  • Experience supporting pilot line operations or engineering experiments.
