Engineering Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting plant engineers in the design, development, and maintenance of various engineering projects. This role involves a blend of technical skills, analytical thinking, and hands-on problem-solving capabilities.

  1. Assists plant engineers in the design, development and testing of engineering projects.

  2. Conducts tests and experiments to gather data and improve product designs.

  3. Prepares detailed technical reports and documentation.

  4. Maintains and troubleshoots engineering equipment and systems.

  5. Performs quality control inspections to ensure compliance with standards.

  6. Collaborates with other team members to solve technical problems.

  7. Calibrates and maintains testing instruments and measurement devices.

  8. Provides technical support during the manufacturing process.

  9. Helps with the installation and setup of new engineering equipment.

  10. Analyzes and interprets technical drawings and schematics.

  11. Manages inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.

  12. Assists in the development of project timelines and budgets.

  13. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and protocols.

  14. Attends and contributes to project meetings and briefings.

  15. Completes other assigned duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in the operation of batch mixing equipment preferred or general manufacturing equipment required.
  • Experience performing detailed mathematical calculations and analysis to identify and solve engineering problems.

Technology Skills

  • Microsoft 365 experience required
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools

  • Ability to cooperate with other team members at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to be self-directed and to work independently
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to work with chemicals and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Willingness to continuously update technical knowledge and skills

Environment: Climate controlled manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and chemicals. Exposure to noticeable odors from various ingredients and chemicals.

Physical: Ability to bend, reach, sit and stand, ability to lift weight, maneuver, or exert force up to 40 pounds; good hand/eye coordination including manual dexterity to handle small tools and/or small units.

Vision: Good visual acuity necessary to focus on fine details.

Hearing: Hear within the normal audio range with or without correction.
