Job Description:

The Boston Globe is looking for an ambitious, urgent, and sophisticated journalist to join our Business team as a Money & Enterprise Reporter.

This is a premier job in our newsroom, and we're looking for an elite reporter and writer to fill it. We are seeking a reporter with strong knowledge and sources in money, investing and the companies that run billions of dollars here. This reporter will be one who can break news and produce accountability stories in business and also take the wheel on the big news of the day. This person would be skilled at finding great stories with broad appeal — someone who builds sources with ease, can handle SEC records, cut through complex issues and deliver everything from deeply-reported narratives to quick-hit investigations and smart, bright takes on our economy and key industries. 

You'd be part of our 18-person Business department, and you'd partner frequently with other corners of the newsroom, so we're looking for someone flexible and collaborative by nature, who sees new angles and reporting lanes clearly. We also want someone who's comfortable working across platforms, from video and audio to newsletters. Experience doing top-tier business journalism is key, and as important is the skill to dig into compelling stories, report them deeply, and tell them in creative ways that engage our readers and break new ground.

Responsibilities:

• Produce a steady stream of high-impact scoops and enterprise.
• Report and write business stories with authority, creativity, and sophistication.
• Contribute to breaking news, daily coverage, and larger projects as needed.
• Partner with visual and digital colleagues to create stories that reach readers across a variety of platforms.
• Embrace alternative storytelling formats, including video, audio, and newsletters.

Qualifications:

• Five-plus years of journalism experience at a major-market publication.
• Ability to write clean, compelling copy on deadline.
• A skilled writer who can elevate good stories into great ones.
• Flexible and enterprising, with a creative approach to storytelling.
• A team player who works well in a group setting.
• A willingness to adapt and be audience-focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment.

The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.

The hourly rate for this role is: $38.41 - $61.53.

This range reflects the band for this role. We are committed to fair and market-informed compensation. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates could be hired within the midpoint of the range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by their particular combination of skills, experience, and qualifications.   

This position is a union position covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Boston Newspaper Guild.
