TradeSTAR Austin is hiring motivated Entry-Level Low Voltage Technicians and Helpers who want to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in the commercial technology industry!

No previous low-voltage experience? WE WILL TRAIN YOU!

We're looking for dependable, hardworking individuals interested in learning how to install, wire, terminate, and test the technology systems that power today's commercial buildings.

Gain hands-on experience working alongside skilled technicians on commercial construction projects throughout the Austin area.

TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS YOU CAN LEARN

TELECOMMUNICATIONS & STRUCTURED CABLING

Installing Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling

Pulling, routing, dressing, and labeling network cables

Installing J-hooks, cable tray, and ladder rack

Assisting with patch panels, data jacks, and network outlets

Learning MDF/IDF telecom closet build-outs

Introduction to cable termination and testing

SECURITY & ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS

Installing low-voltage security cabling

Assisting with card readers, door contacts, and motion detectors

Learning electric strikes, magnetic locks, and access control hardware

Installing CCTV and IP surveillance cameras

Learning basic security device wiring and termination

Introduction to electronic security system troubleshooting

FIRE ALARM & LIFE SAFETY SYSTEMS

Installing fire alarm cable and support systems

Assisting with smoke detectors, pull stations, and horn/strobes

Learning basic fire alarm device wiring and terminations

Identifying fire alarm panels and system components

Introduction to fire alarm testing and troubleshooting

Learning jobsite safety and applicable fire alarm installation standards

AUDIO VISUAL (AV) SYSTEMS

Installing commercial displays, projectors, and speakers

Pulling HDMI, Cat6, and AV system cabling

Assisting with conference room and presentation systems

Installing equipment racks and AV mounting hardware

Learning basic audio/video connections and signal pathways

Assisting experienced AV technicians with commercial installations

TECHNICAL SKILLS YOU'LL DEVELOP

Proper use of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment

Reading basic blueprints and installation drawings

Cable routing, labeling, and cable management

Installing low-voltage cable support systems

Basic wiring, device mounting, and terminations

Understanding commercial construction environments

Working safely with ladders and approved access equipment

Following installation standards and quality requirements

Comfortable performing physical work on commercial jobsites

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

Commitment to jobsite safety and quality workmanship

Previous construction, electrical, mechanical, or technical experience is a plus, but not required
