The Environmental Compliance Coordinator is responsible for the overall environmental compliance, coordination, and reporting for the Solid Waste Department including municipal solid waste landfill, collection operations, and other facilities.

Essential Job Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or Public Administration; with four (4) years of experience in environmental science and regulatory oversight; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

Minimum Standards
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Senior Director, Solid Waste and Division Director, Refuse Disposal assigns work in terms of department goals and objectives. The work is reviewed through conferences, reports, audits, and observation of department activities.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include the Environmental Compliance schedule; environmental laws and regulations; Georgia Environmental Protection Department Solid Waste Management rules, regulations, and guidelines; Georgia EPD air quality and emission rules/regulations; the Georgia Solid Waste Management Act; Environmental Protection Agency guidelines. These guidelines require judgement, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied administrative duties. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to administer solid waste monitoring procedures and environmental compliance monitoring. Success in this position results in compliance with environmental regulations.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, City employees, State and Federal regulators, consultants, elected and appointed officials, and members of the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, resolve problems, motivate personnel, and justify or defend matters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires sitting at a desk with some light/moderate lifting on occasions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in both the office and field environments.
