    The Opportunity:

    Are you an Environmental Scientist, Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Professional looking to advance your career while supporting critical Department of Defense environmental programs?

    Tetra Tech, an industry leader and nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Compliance Specialist to support environmental compliance programs at Avon Park Air Force Range (APAFR) and the Jonathan Dickinson Missile Tracking Annex (JDMTA) in Florida. The successful candidate will support a broad range of multi-media environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste, hazardous materials, air quality, water quality, stormwater management, petroleum systems, storage tanks, environmental permitting, inspections, monitoring, and regulatory reporting.

    This position offers the opportunity to work directly with Department of War personnel, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements while supporting the mission of military training operations. The position also offers opportunities for increased responsibility, task leadership, and professional growth within Tetra Tech's federal environmental practice.

    Responsibilities:

    Support environmental compliance programs including:

    Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

    Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)

    Toxic Release Inventory (TRI)

    Clean Water Act (CWA)

    National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)

    Industrial and Construction Storm Water Permitting

    Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)

    Air Quality Management Programs

    Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste Programs

    Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank compliance

    Conduct environmental compliance inspections, assessments, and audits.

    Perform shop inspections, records reviews, and regulatory compliance evaluations.

    Collect, analyze, manage, and maintain environmental compliance data and databases.

    Support permit development, permit compliance tracking, and permit implementation.

    Prepare regulatory reports and compliance documentation, including:

    TRI and Tier II Reports

    Hazardous Waste Reports

    Air Emissions Inventories

    Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting

    Potential-to-Emit (PTE) Calculations

    Stormwater and Water Quality Reports

    Conduct inspections of POL infrastructure, storage tanks, air emission sources, and pollution control equipment.

    Perform environmental field activities, including:

    Soil sampling

    Groundwater sampling

    Surface water sampling

    Stormwater monitoring

    Sediment sampling

    Air monitoring

    Review environmental data and develop technical recommendations.

    Prepare technical reports, work plans, compliance documents, and client deliverables.

    Coordinate field activities and oversee subcontractors and field teams.

    Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.

    Maintain compliance with company health and safety requirements.

    Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Geosciences, or related technical field.

    Support to federal, military, industrial, municipal and/or commercial environmental programs.

    Working knowledge of:

    Resource Conservation and Recovery Act

    Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act

    Clean Water Act (NPDES Program)

    Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Rule/Facility Response Plans

    Clean Air Act

    Performing environmental inspections, reporting, permitting, and compliance evaluations.

    Current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (8-hour refresher preferred).

    Strong technical writing, data management, and communication skills.

    Valid driver's license and ability to travel between facilities as needed.

    Ability to pass applicable background screening requirements.

    Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Products (i.e., Excel, Word, Teams)

    Preferred Qualifications

    Support to the Air Force/Space Force environmental programs.

    Knowledge of Air Force/Space Force data management systems

    3+ years of environmental compliance experience.

    Knowledge of Florida environmental regulations.

    Management of environmental databases and compliance tracking systems.

    Professional certifications or registrations including EIT, PE, GIT, PG, or PMP.

    Esri ArcGIS viewing, mapping, analysis.

    Oversight of subcontractors or field personnel.

    This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

    Language & Communication Skills:

    Candidate must speak, read and understand the English language. Accurate report writing is a requirement of this position.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projects.
