Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead environmental compliance, workplace safety, and risk management initiatives at a large-scale manufacturing facility in Downey, CA.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership opportunity requiring strong environmental and regulatory expertise, experience in high-volume manufacturing, and the ability to influence safety culture through collaboration rather than direct supervision.

**Position Overview**

* Location: Downey, CA
* Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM start
* Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
* Compensation: $108,000–$135,000 + 20% Annual Bonus
* Travel: None

**Responsibilities**

* Lead environmental, health, and safety programs across a large-scale manufacturing operation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
* Manage environmental compliance initiatives, regulatory reporting, inspections, and corrective action plans.
* Oversee safety and environmental management systems, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 audits.
* Conduct comprehensive risk assessments involving production equipment, industrial electrical systems, and manufacturing processes.
* Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and plant leadership to identify hazards, reduce workplace incidents, and improve safety performance.
* Maintain compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and DOT safety requirements.
* Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventative measures.
* Support workers' compensation management and return-to-work initiatives.
* Develop and deliver safety training programs that encourage employee engagement and accountability.
* Track EHS performance metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and present recommendations to senior leadership.
* Maintain an active presence on the production floor, building relationships with employees and promoting a proactive safety culture.

**Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR high school diploma with 9+ years of relevant experience.
* Strong EHS experience within a large-scale manufacturing environment.
* Extensive knowledge of environmental compliance, regulatory requirements, and safety management systems.
* Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems and audits.
* Demonstrated experience conducting manufacturing risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
* Understanding of industrial electrical safety and hazards associated with manufacturing equipment.
* Knowledge of DOT safety regulations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive change without direct supervisory authority.
* Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to spend time on the production floor.

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Experience in food and beverage, packaging, paper, automotive, chemical, or other high-speed manufacturing environments.
* Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
* Workers' compensation management experience.
* Experience with continuous improvement or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
