Porter Medical Center is seeking an Environmental Services & Linen Training Coordinator to join their team!
In this role, you will lead staff training, competency development, and quality assurance initiatives within our Environmental Services and Linen departments. You will partner with department leadership to ensure team members are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and certifications needed to maintain safe, clean, and compliant healthcare environments.
Please note: This position requires a variable shift schedule, and candidates must be available to work both day and evening shifts based on departmental and operational needs.
Training & Staff Development
Delivers engaging orientation, onboarding, and ongoing educational programs.
Assesses learning needs and develops targeted training solutions.
Conducts competency evaluations and provides constructive feedback.
Supports recertification and continuing education programs.
Maintains accurate training and competency documentation.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Performs quality assurance audits and inspections.
Uses data and observations to identify performance gaps.
Recommends corrective actions and retraining when needed.
Promotes best practices that improve service quality, safety, and efficiency.
Communication & Relationship Building
Communicates clearly and effectively with staff at all levels.
Builds trust through coaching, mentoring, and collaboration.
Facilitates learning in both classroom and hands-on environments.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and professional judgment.
Operational Excellence
Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.

Regulatory & Safety Compliance
Maintains knowledge of environmental services, linen, infection prevention, and safety standards.
Ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Promotes a culture of safety and accountability.
Monitors completion of required training and certifications.
Coordinate and deliver orientation and training programs for Environmental Services and Linen team members.
Conduct competency assessments and annual evaluations.
Lead recertification classes, in-service education, and skills validation activities.
Perform quality audits using established environmental monitoring tools and processes.
Maintain training records, competency documentation, and continuing education files.
Partner with leadership to identify performance improvement opportunities and develop action plans.
Assist with policy reviews, process improvements, and department initiatives.
Monitor completion of required compliance and mandatory education programs.
Serve as a role model for service excellence, professionalism, and teamwork.
Support departmental operations as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
Three or more years of Environmental Services and/or Laundry Services experience.
Previous experience training, mentoring, or coaching frontline staff preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent presentation and facilitation abilities.
Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
Ability to identify departmental and individual learning needs.
Current T-CHEST certification or ability to obtain within an established timeframe.
Experience in healthcare environmental services.
Background in adult learning, staff development, or workforce training.
Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and environmental monitoring systems.
Proven ability to influence positive behavioral and performance change.
