We’re looking for a skilled and safety-focused GSE Mechanic I to help keep our Ground Support Equipment operating at peak performance. In this hands-on role, you’ll inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul both powered and non-powered GSE—playing a critical role in reliable airport operations.

Beyond turning wrenches, you’ll be a trusted technical resource, mentoring less experienced mechanics and stepping into a leadership role when the Supervisor is unavailable. If you take pride in quality work, ownership, and teamwork, this is an opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic aviation environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul a wide range of ground support equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, and battery-operated equipment

  • Perform light and heavy-duty tire and wheel changes

  • Accurately complete maintenance and repair documentation in compliance with all carrier, airport, municipal, state, and federal requirements

  • Respond to emergency service calls and incidents involving GSE

  • Serve as a liaison between ABX and contractors for equipment maintenance, modification, and operations

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior mechanics

  • Oversee maintenance work in the absence of a Supervisor

  • Maintain strong communication with all levels of the organization

  • Support facility or property equipment maintenance as directed by management

  • Work independently while consistently practicing safety-conscious behaviors

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written) on technical matters

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable industrial and/or commercial maintenance experience

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Arc/MIG and acetylene welding

    • Gas and diesel engine repair

    • Automatic and manual transmissions and drivetrains

    • Hydraulic systems and battery-operated equipment

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Must supply a complete set of mechanic’s tools (company provides specialized tools)

  • Physical ability to:

    • Stoop, bend, and work in confined spaces

    • Work at heights

    • Frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of formal technical training in industrial or commercial automotive repair

  • CDL Class A license

  • Prior military AGE/GSE experience
