Job Summary:
The Seasonal Equipment Operator supports Research & Development by operating forestry, construction, and land management equipment to execute product testing and validation activities. This role assists in the setup, execution, and documentation of field and controlled tests to ensure product performance, reliability, and quality. The operator works closely with Engineering, Product Management, and R&D teams to support test plans, collect data, and contribute to continuous product improvement.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates forestry mulchers, skid steers, excavators, and related equipment to execute product test plans and validation activities.
- Supports the setup, execution, and teardown of field and controlled testing environments.
- Assists Engineering and R&D in conducting performance, durability, and usability testing of products and components.
- Collects and records test data, observations, and operator feedback during testing activities.
- Identifies and communicates equipment performance issues, anomalies, or failures observed during testing.
- Performs routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure test readiness and reliability.
- Prepares equipment, attachments, and test sites to meet defined validation requirements.
- Maintains accurate documentation of test activities, including logs, photos, and supporting materials.
- Collaborates with Engineering and Product Development teams to support test objectives, timelines, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensures compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and test protocols.
- Supports field demonstrations, customer evaluations, and site visits as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to safely and effectively operate heavy equipment in testing and field environments.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to observe and report performance characteristics.
- Ability to follow structured test procedures and work instructions.
- Strong communication skills to relay test observations and feedback.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing test conditions and priorities.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with an understanding of equipment operation and functionality.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience operating forestry, construction, agricultural, or similar equipment preferred.
- Experience supporting product testing, field validation, or equipment demonstrations is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, terrain, and test conditions.
- Must be able to traverse test sites, production areas, and outdoor environments.
