    Description

    Job Summary

    Originate and manage home equity loans and lines of credit (HELOCs) for members, including those generated through the Fintech loan channel. Guide members through the application process, conduct credit assessments, and ensure accurate loan documentation. Maintain strict compliance with TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and all applicable state and federal lending regulations, policies, and disclosures. Deliver a seamless lending experience, adapting to the unique workflow and increased volume associated with Fintech-based applications.

    Responsibilities

    Level I: Equity Loan Officer (Entry Level)

    ·         Originate standard home equity loan and HELOC applications, including those from the Fintech channel.

    ·         Learn and adapt to Fintech channel processes and workflows.

    ·         Collect, review, and validate applicant documentation and credit reports.

    ·         Analyze borrower qualifications and prepare required loan disclosures.

    ·         Assist with loan closings under supervision.

    ·         Support processors, underwriters, and closers to ensure timely application progression.

    ·         Develop foundational knowledge of mortgage products, lending guidelines, and regulatory requirements (TRID, RESPA, HMDA).

    ·         Build skills to manage increased and diverse loan volume from Fintech sources.

    ·         Experience: 0–2 years in mortgage lending or related financial services.

     

    Level II: Equity Loan Officer (Intermediate)

    ·         Independently manage moderate to complex home equity loan and HELOC originations, including a significant portion from the Fintech channel.

    ·         Collect and review applicant documentation, analyze borrower qualifications, and prepare disclosures.

    ·         Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.

    ·         Collaborate across the department to support workflow, ensuring timely file progression and funding.

    ·         Contribute to process improvement initiatives and mentor entry-level team members.

    ·         Support team understanding of Fintech channel requirements and assist in workflow enhancements.

    ·         Analyze loan volume trends from Fintech sources and recommend process adjustments.

    ·         Maintain strong member relationships and deliver high-quality service.

    ·         Experience: 2–5 years in mortgage lending, equity loan originations, or related financial services.

     

    Level III: Senior Equity Loan Officer (Advanced/Specialist)

    ·         Originate complex or high-value home equity loans and HELOCs, including those from the Fintech channel.

    ·         Collect and review documentation and credit reports for sophisticated transactions; analyze qualifications and prepare disclosures.

    ·        Serve as a subject matter expert, providing compliance oversight and resolving escalated issues.

    ·       Mentor junior staff and drive process improvements, including best practices for Fintech-originated loans and technology-driven workflows.

    ·         Lead cross-functional coordination to enhance workflow efficiency and outcomes.

    ·         Ensure best practices in regulatory compliance, member guidance, and loan documentation.

    ·         Represent the credit union in industry forums and contribute to product development or enhancement as needed.

    ·         Experience: 5+ years in mortgage lending, equity loan originations, or related financial services.

    Qualifications

    • Comprehensive knowledge of lending regulations (TRID, RESPA, HMDA, etc.)
    • Proven ability to adapt to new loan origination channels, especially Fintech
    • Strong analytical skills to monitor and respond to loan volume and workflow trends
    • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance
    • Excellent communication and member service skills
    • Collaborative approach to supporting workflow and team success
