    Job Description

    Eye Surgeon

Sight is the outcome patients remember. This role exists to restore and protect vision through precise surgery, sound clinical judgment, and care people trust enough to recommend. Success is measured in visual results, safety, and a practice that earns its volume.

    Performance Objectives

    • Deliver surgical care that meets or exceeds accepted benchmarks for visual acuity, complication rates, and unplanned returns to the operating room.
    • Complete full ophthalmic evaluations and select the right procedure—cataract, refractive, glaucoma, cornea, or oculoplastic—based on diagnosis, risk, and patient goals.
    • Lower preventable complications by applying consistent pre-operative assessment, surgical timeout, and post-operative protocols with the team.
    • Identify high-risk cases early and manage them through documented recovery milestones and timely follow-up.
    • Strengthen informed consent so patients understand options, risks, and expected results before they commit to surgery.
    • Work with optometry, anesthesia, and nursing to keep operating-room use high without sacrificing case quality or on-time starts.
    • Contribute outcomes data the practice can use to refine technique, technology choices, and quality improvement.

    Environment & Resources

You will practice with ophthalmologists, optometrists, surgical nurses, and technicians in an equipped clinic and ophthalmic operating room. Diagnostic and surgical platforms, dedicated block time, and trained clinical support are in place. You report to the medical director and help shape scheduling, technology, and protocols that affect your cases.

    Essential Qualifications

    • MD or DO, completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency, and board certification or active board eligibility.
    • Active medical license and the ability to obtain hospital and surgery-center privileges.
    • Independent surgical experience in the procedures this practice performs, with outcomes you can discuss.
    • Current skill in pre-operative risk assessment, intraoperative decisions, and management of post-operative complications.
    • Clear communication with patients and staff, including informed consent and shared decision-making.

    Role Selling Points

    • Case mix and block time built around the surgeon, not buried in administrative work.
    • Modern diagnostic and operating-room technology with staff who know ophthalmic workflows.
    • A quality culture that tracks results and gives you a voice in how care is delivered.
    • A patient base that values specialty eye care and refers on outcomes.

If you measure success by the vision you restore and the standard you set in the operating room, apply with your CV and a short note on the procedures and results that define your practice.
