Patients come to this practice at moments that change how they live, work, and see themselves. You will restore form and function after trauma, cancer, and congenital difference, and deliver elective aesthetic care with the same rigor. Success is measured in safe outcomes, clear plans, and patients who leave knowing exactly what recovery will demand of them.
Performance Objectives
Build and complete a full-spectrum reconstructive and aesthetic caseload, meeting agreed volume, case-mix, and on-time start targets within the first year.
Reduce unplanned returns to the operating room and major complications below peer benchmarks through disciplined planning, technique, and follow-up.
Convert complex referrals into completed care plans by seeing new patients within the practice’s access standard and documenting a decision within one visit when clinically appropriate.
Coordinate tumor, trauma, and wound cases with oncology, ENT, orthopedics, and wound teams so combined procedures start on schedule and handoffs are explicit.
Run a clinic in which more than 90 percent of patients leave with a written plan covering options, risks, cost, and the next appointment.
Teach residents or advanced practice clinicians on every applicable case and leave operative notes that another surgeon can act on without a phone call.
Contribute to at least one quality or access improvement each year that shortens time from referral to definitive reconstruction.
Environment & Resources
You join a multispecialty surgical group with dedicated OR block, a procedure suite, and hospital privileges for inpatient reconstruction.
Support includes surgical PAs or NPs, a clinic coordinator, photography, and access to microsurgery instrumentation and a multidisciplinary tumor board.
You report to the chief of surgery or practice medical director, with a defined first-year ramp and quarterly case-mix review.
Call is shared. Block time and clinic templates are set before start so the first 90 days are scheduled, not improvised.
Essential Qualifications
MD or DO, ACGME plastic surgery residency, and board certification or active board eligibility in plastic surgery.
Unrestricted state medical license, or eligibility to obtain one before start, plus current hospital privileges or a clean privileging file.
Demonstrated independent performance in microsurgical or complex flap reconstruction, plus a defined aesthetic practice you can describe with outcomes, not slogans.
Evidence you can run a clinic and OR day to a schedule: on-time starts, complete documentation, and complication review you can discuss.
Comfort operating inside a team model with APPs, residents, and referring specialists.
Role Selling Points
Real reconstructive volume alongside aesthetic work, not a cosmetic-only book dressed up as a full practice.
Block time, APP support, and a tumor board already in place, so you are not building infrastructure alone.
A first-year ramp with named volume and quality targets, reviewed with leadership rather than left to chance.
Shared call and a reporting line that owns OR access, so clinical time is protected.
If you can show the cases you have done, the complications you have owned, and the standard you will hold here, apply with a CV and a short note on the reconstruction you most want to grow.
