Position Overview

The organization is hiring an Estimator at multiple levels (Junior, Senior, OR Chief Estimator) with a clear growth path into Preconstruction leadership. High-performing candidates will have the opportunity to progress into a Preconstruction Manager role over time.

There is openness to hiring multiple estimators (junior and senior levels) if strong talent is identified.

This role is critical to the organization’s long-term success, with a strong focus on winning work, building accurate estimates, and ensuring continuity within the estimating department. The Director of Estimating / Preconstruction is approaching retirement eligibility, creating a strong succession planning opportunity and long-term growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects
• Perform complete material and labor takeoffs based on drawings and specifications
• Review bid documents, specifications, and attend pre-bid meetings to define full scope of work
• Incorporate historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity reports) into estimating assumptions
• Coordinate estimating efforts across assigned bids and projects
• Maintain organized documentation and backup files for all estimates
• Collaborate with owners, architects/engineers, and contractors to support feasibility and cost analysis
• Support awarded projects with change orders, extra work items, credits, and procurement support
• Perform additional estimating and preconstruction duties as assigned

Candidate Profile

Experience Level:

• Estimator: 3+ years
• Senior Estimator: 6+ years
• Chief Estimator: 8+ years

Background Requirements:

• 3–10+ years of estimating, cost control, or construction engineering experience
• Electrical construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Engineering degree preferred (not required)

Work Environment

• Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Compensation & Benefits

• Estimator / Senior Estimator: $85,000 – $120,000
• Chief Estimator: $150,000 – $170,000
• Annual performance bonus: 5–10%
