Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of fire sprinkler and fire protection projects-from initial sales estimating through project turnover, execution, and final budget reconciliation. In this hybrid role, you will analyze construction contract documents, produce accurate project estimates, conduct field surveys, manage project schedules, and serve as the primary point of contact for General Contractors, site owners, and field installation crews.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction contract documents, drawings, and specifications to determine system feasibility, cost estimates, and competitive project bids.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, hydrant flow calculations, seismic bracing layouts, and underground system pricing for incoming sales estimates.
- Manage end-to-end project budgets, track labor/material costs, issue timely change orders, submit RFIs, and manage project billings to maximize job profitability.
- Oversee project permitting, submission approvals, fabrication schedules, and material purchase orders to ensure timely job site delivery.
- Coordinate project kickoff meetings with the Design team, facilitate job handovers, and align with field supervisors on staff allocations and specifications.
- Conduct field surveys and attend regular PM, design, and site progress meetings to maintain project alignment.
- Serve as the primary liaison between General Contractors, clients, field crews, and internal departments, communicating progress reports, schedule adjustments, and issue resolutions.
- Maintain complete, organized digital project records and server files in accordance with company archiving standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in estimating, sales, or project management within the fire protection or commercial fire sprinkler industry.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings, fire protection plans, project specifications, and subcontracts.
- Working knowledge of fire protection engineering principles, including hydraulic calculations, seismic bracing, and underground piping systems.
- Proficiency in estimating software, project tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with a track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong commitment to customer service and long-term client relationship management.
