Event Host, WCP (Student)
The primary responsibility of the Reservations Office Event Host is to assist in coordinating and ensuring the successful execution of events in the William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center (WCP). This position is integral in communicating with the event sponsors throughout all stages of the event planning process. Additionally, Event Hosts promote WCP and its services and opportunities to the campus community.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and programming events held in the Student Activity Center.
- Provide building and event space tours to potential clients (student organizations and University departments) and be well versed in the amenities and services offered by the WCP.
- Provide support to clients as they schedule reservations through the University Unions Online Reservations System and answer questions as they arise.
- Communicate with event organizers and outside vendors to assist in coordinating their events.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling and data entry.
- Support on-site events by checking in with clients and assisting with load in and load out.
- Communicate event needs with other WCP departments including housekeeping, audio/visual, building safety and security, and maintenance.
- Work on special projects to enhance the operations of the Reservations Office.
- Assist in other areas of the WCP when called upon by other departments.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of The University of Texas Institutional Rules and WCP Building Policies and Procedures.
- Use a variety of software packages, including word processing, Outlook, Photoshop, event scheduling software (Mazévo), PowerPoint, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and meet the University's student employment eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least six (6) semester credit hours, unless otherwise eligible under University policy.
- Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for exceptional customer service.
- Ability to adapt to change and maintain composure as challenges arise.
- Ability to manage conflict while remaining professional.
- Approachable with a genuine interest in interacting with diverse populations.
Salary Range
$11.00 per hour; 12-15 hours per week
